Luther Farms has been family owned and operated for all 106 years of operation. Rudolph Luther came overseas from Switzerland to Richfield, Ohio. He bought the farm at a sheriff's auction in 1900, but had been working as a farm laborer since the 1870's. Now that he had his on farm, he enlisted his son Edward to help run it. Edward married Eva White in 1910, and they had five children of their own: Louise, Rudolph, Elmer, Arthur, and Ellen. After Rudolph Luther grew older he married Helen Boughton. They continued on the family tradition by having seven children of thier own: Dorothy, Barbara, Bob, Ronnie, Betty, Marilyn and Eddie. Dorothy (1) the oldest child, married the late Scott Hooper of Richfield, Ohio. Barbara (2) the second oldest child, helps with daily tasks on the farm as well as working two other jobs. Not to mention, helping take care of her brother Ed, who has unfortunately been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease. Plus she babysits the family's babies during the day while thier parents are at work. Bob (3) was next in line and he married Diane Petrice. Bob is a farmer here on the farm and Diane is a teaching assistant for Kindergarten aged kids. They continued on the family tradition by having five kids of their own: Scott, John, Tim, Dan, and Sarah. Scott is now married to Rachel Barta and are expecting a child in the near future. John married Jennifer Fickes and have a beautiful baby boy Logan. Tim and his dad Bob are the farmers here. They work hard day in and day out, and take great pride in their work. Dan works as a landscaper, and is a snowplow contractor for the farm during the winter months. Sarah graduated from Tri-C, and has a graphic design degree. She currently works at the sign shop in the center of Richfield. Ronnie (4) was the fourth of seven children, and he married Debbie Bene, who is a teacher at Revere Local Schools. They have four wonderful girls. Julie, Laurel, Emily, and Hannah. Julie Luther is engaged to Josh Fitzgerald, and currently lives in South Carolina teaching elementry school. Laurel attends the University of Bowling Green and is a photography major. Emily and Hannah attend Revere Local Schools. Betty (5) the fifth of seven children is a registered nurse and works at Children's Hospital. She married Pieter van der Meer and have four children of their own: Maryke, Abbey, Pieter, and Katie. Maryke married Todd Bard of Richfield and have their hands full with their beautiful boy, Tristan. Abbey married Bernie Soberaj and also have a beautiful baby boy, George. Pieter works in Atlanta, Georgia managing a bar. Katie currently attends Ohio State University and is majoring in Pediatric Nursing. He married Gale Mazaros and have four boys of their own: Edward, Andy, Brian, and Cody. Edward, Andy, and Brian attend Revere Local Schools and Cody will be entering pre-school this upcoming school year. Ed was orginally running the family farm with his brother Bob. But he has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). ALS affects the central nervous system and your muscle control. He now has an electic wheelchair and has a computer that talks for him. He controls the keyboard by moving his nose to activate the letters. Ed is a great man and we ask that you keep him in your prayers. He is one of the most honest, loyal, and sincere people ever. Ed worked hard to support his family, and the pride he got out of farming his land was very important to him. A true American hero to many. God Bless you Ed, you taught many that a hard day's work is more satisfying than anything else in this world, and that is something you'll always be remembered for.
